Rob Bilsland brings decades of classroom experience, strong community roots, and a practical commitment to helping students succeed.
About Rob
Rob has lived in the Seven Oaks School Division his entire life and has called Ward 2 home since 1992. His career in education has given him first-hand experience with the opportunities, challenges, and day-to-day realities of public schools.
As a teacher, coach, and community member, Rob has spent decades working with students, families, teachers, Educational Assistants, and neighbours across the area.
Teaching Experience
Substitute and Term Teacher
20 years serving students and the school community.
Teaching experience in another Winnipeg school division.
Continued classroom and vocational education experience.
The beginning of a 30-year teaching career.
Rob’s Priorities
Promote vocational education, skilled trades, and career-ready programs that give students meaningful pathways into work and further education.
Advocate for strong EAL programming and appropriate supports for students with special needs while ensuring all students have opportunities to succeed.
Recognize the essential contribution Educational Assistants make in classrooms and support the resources they need to help students.
Encourage responsibility, perseverance, practical skills, and a strong work ethic students can carry into their careers and adult lives.
Make himself available to listen to students, parents, families, educators, staff, and community members—and bring their concerns to the board table.
Community Experience
Rob’s connection to Seven Oaks extends beyond the classroom. He has coached hockey and soccer through Maples Community Centre and Seven Oaks Minor Hockey.
Through his automotive classes, Rob’s students developed hands-on skills while providing automotive service to teachers, Educational Assistants, and other members of the community.
Independent Campaign
Rob will not accept campaign donations. His campaign is focused on experience, education, and serving the Seven Oaks community.
